Gene Ellison is a successful tournament bass angler
who was born and raised in Somerville, MA.
Gene has
recently stepped down as the Executive Director of the Professional Anglers
Association, a non-profit “players association” made up of over 500 of the top
professional tournament bass fisherman in the world. The PAA’s mission is to
promote the growth of fishing, activate conservation efforts, and serve the
“Catch A Dream” Foundation, a charitable children’s organization that grants
fishing, hunting and outdoor related wishes to terminally ill children.

In his volunteer role as
the PAA Executive Director, Gene designed, and supervised the PAA’s first ever
professional tournament, the Toyota Texas Bass Classic. This historic
tournament was held April 12 -15, 2007 at Lake Fork, Texas and raised $ 250,000
for Texas Parks & Wildlife and their fisheries management programs. This unique
4 man team event was aired on Versus and CBS television. The event’s total
purse of $1 Million and a first ever NO ENTRY fee featured 160 of the greatest
anglers in the world, practicing “catch and release” methods to honor Lake
Fork’s 25 year old strict slot limit regulations.
Gene currently competes
annually in over 25 tournaments, nationally (FLW Series), regionally (BFL) and (NEPVA)
and locally (Mass BASS Federation Nation) and is an active member of Woburn’s
The Outlaw Trail Club.
Gene appears nationally
on television programs, radio shows and live at State Outdoor Writers
conferences, State Wildlife Angler Education Clinics, Nitro Dealerships and Bass
Pro Shops locations: teaching fishing techniques; discussing the “new direction”
of bass fishing; and spreading his passion for the outdoors with children.
